Game 3 world series 2024
On any given day, I am a husband and father of five. I read obsessively and, occasionally, I write stories of varying length, quality, and metrical structure. As often as possible, I enjoy sitting down to the table for a game with friends and family. https://cleopatra-slots-review.com/ I’m happy to trumpet Everdell, in all its charm and glory, as the insurmountable favorite of my collection.
Designed by Philippe Keyaerts as a fantasy follow-up to his award-winning Vinci™, Small World is inhabited by a zany cast of characters such as dwarves, wizards, amazons, giants, orcs and even humans; who use their troops to occupy territory and conquer adjacent lands in order to push the other races off the face of the earth.
This simplicity gave me the confidence to call my young daughter to the table. Obviously there is a lot more going on with the interaction of the map and the races, deciding how best to branch out, when to enter decline, and how to evaluate the board state. But she could certainly take her Alchemist Skeletons and run roughshod over the map. Once I explained that she is rewarded with more Skeletons for conquering rather than taking empty territories, she understood enough to start picking on people. She held those Skeletons for 7 rounds and didn’t finish last (among four players), a testimony to the fact that anyone can play Small World with relative success.
Where in the world is carmen sandiego game
In an early draft named World Quest, to be based upon the World Almanac and Book of Facts, one villain was a “demented and fabulously wealthy former professor” named Professor Estaban Devious. He would steal treasures from small countries and hide them in his Secret Museum. Siefkin’s script featured several villains, one of whom he named Carmen Sandiego. Siefkin adapted Carmen’s name from the Brazilian singer and actress Carmen Miranda, as well as the name of a dog owned by his former roommates in San Francisco, and from the American city of San Diego, California. Project manager Katherine Bird latched onto that name believing it captured something exotic and mysterious. She was described in the original game manual as “An agent, double agent, triple agent, and quadruple agent in so many countries that even she has forgotten which one she’s working for”. Carlston also liked the name as they could design a female character for it, allowing young women to be able to connect with the game, as well as not having to worry about her backstory of why she became a crook. The name also lent well to the title Where In the World Is Carmen Sandiego? as it succinctly informed the player of the game’s goal. With this, they fleshed out two organizations: V.I.L.E. – Villains’ International League of Evil – and the ACME Detective Agency – with ACME jokingly considered an initialism for “A Company that Makes Everything”. Some of the villains in V.I.L.E. were designed from other Broderbund employees: Carmen was modeled after Marsha Bell, the company’s manager of marketing services, while the villain “Katherine Drib” was an anagram of Bird’s name. Others were named based on puns, such as “Ken U. Sparadigm” for “can you spare a dime”. The game would now require the player to start as a recruit for ACME, and work their way up by locating the henchmen within V.I.L.E., until finally they were ready to track Carmen. As they worked their way up, they would have less in-game time to find the crook, and the geographic trivia would become harder.

The first game in the series released in 1985, Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?, was designed and written by Gene Portwood and Lauren Elliott, and programmed by Dane Bigham. It established an original formula that was followed very faithfully in all Carmen Sandiego games. This formula involves a series of missions in which the computer player tracks and apprehends each of Carmen Sandiego’s underlings. Each case begins with the player being alerted that a spectacular theft has been committed. Immediately transported to the scene of the crime, the player must find clues to infer the suspect’s next destination and to create an arrest warrant describing the guilty party’s attributes. The culprit travels through a series of different locations around the world in an attempt to shake off any pursuers, so the player will have to continue tracking the thief for some time. The game continues in this manner until the player catches up with the culprit, at which point the thief is arrested, and if the warrant is correct, the player puts the thief in ACME prison. As more and more thieves are arrested, the player rises up through ACME’s ranks, and the later cases assigned to the player will become more difficult. On the final case, the perpetrator is revealed to be Carmen Sandiego herself, and the game ends when the player successfully captures her and is later inducted into the ACME Hall of Fame.
Siefkin wrote the first script for the game beside the swimming pool in Strawberry Canyon on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley. Siefkin was also inspired by Colossal Cave Adventure, transforming the cavern into a map of the world, where the rooms of the cavern become countries with real treasures, and the clues were based on the languages, culture, and geography of those countries.

World series game 3
• Freddie Freeman entered having homered in each game of the series and wasted no time adding Game 3 to the list, going yard in the first. He became just the third player to homer in Games 1, 2 and 3 of a World Series, joining 2002 Barry Bonds (Giants) and 1958 Hank Bauer (Yankees). Nobody has done so in the first four. The only player to homer in four straight games within a single World Series is George Springer, in 2017 Games 4-7.
“When he hit the ball, we knew it was leaving the park, but we had no idea we were going to catch it.” said Zachary, whose parents declined to give his last name. “The ball bounced on the seat in front of us and rolled on the ground a little bit. Then I got it.”
The Yankees used their top bullpen arms on Tuesday to hold on to their lead, and while they’ll be available if needed on Wednesday – this is an elimination game – it’s asking a lot to expect them to shut down the Dodgers again. This is Cole’s game as long as he can take it. It’s on his shoulders. This is why he’s here.
The only baseball team ever to come back from down 3-0 in a best-of-seven series is the 2004 Boston Red Sox — against the Yankees. New York needs a miracle at this point. The way the Yankees are playing, it’s difficult to envision what that looks like. — Jeff Passan
World series game 4
11:16 p.m. — The bottom of the eighth finally comes to an end after five Yankees runs. The Dodgers would need at least seven runs in the ninth, which would be a miracle, to avoid their first loss of the World Series.
So on a day when the Dodgers tried to mix and match their way to a title with an all-relief effort, the Yankees adjusted to the assemblage of arms, got big outs from their own relievers (none bigger than Mark Leiter Jr. striking out Shohei Ohtani and Luke Weaver K’ing Mookie Betts with a runner at second in the seventh) and kept their season alive.
If he’s anything like the Gerrit Cole we saw in Game 1, when he held the Dodgers to one run on four hits over six-plus innings at Dodger Stadium, then the Yankees pulse that was revived in Game 4 could quicken in Game 5.
It left Roberts sounding as optimistic as one could possibly be after losing a chance to win the World Series. That only made sense. His team is up in the series, 3–1. He should not have to manage another bullpen game: His three remaining healthy starters are prepared to finish this out. Jack Flaherty will start Game 5, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Walker Buehler lined up if needed, respectively, for a potential Game 6 and 7. There is no one who knows the dangers of getting complacent up 3–0 as well as Roberts. But he felt confident the mechanics of this loss put his group in a better place for another win.
9:18 p.m. — The third inning comes to an end, but not before the Yankees found some life. They have a long way to go in this series, but Volpe’s grand slam could be a nice boost for New York’s momentum.
