The NCAA Men’s College World Series will take place at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, located in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. The venue, a baseball diamond used by Creighton University’s Creighton Bluejays in the NCAA leagues, was opened in 2011 to replace Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium.

The exceptions involve California and Texas. The tournament has gained popular renown, especially in the United States, where games from the Series and even from regional tournaments are broadcast on ESPN. Teams from the United States have won a plurality of the series, although from 1969 to 1991 teams from Taiwan dominated the series, winning in 15 out of those 23 years. From 2010 through 2017, teams from Japan similarly dominated the series, winning five of those matchups.
A Little League Softball World Series (LLSWS) champion was crowned on Aug. 11, as Pitt County Girls Softball Little League out of Winterville, North Carolina, took home this year’s title. The tournament began Aug. 4 in Greenville, North Carolina, and had a number of games affected by inclement weather caused by a tropical storm moving up the East Coast.
The first day of competition features two international games and two U.S. matchups. Among the teams scheduled to play in the U.S. bracket on Wednesday is Central East Maui Little League, which heads to Williamsport all the way from Wailuku, Hawaii.

Four players have won the Main Event multiple times: Johnny Moss (1970, 1971, and 1974), Doyle Brunson (1976 and 1977), Stu Ungar (1980, 1981, and 1997) and Johnny Chan (1987 and 1988). Bracelet winners who first achieved fame in other fields include French actor/singer Patrick Bruel (in 1998), Danish soccer player Jan Vang Sørensen (in 2002), American actress Jennifer Tilly (in 2005), and American musician/record producer Steve Albini (in 2018 and 2022). In recent years, there have been non-bracelet events at the WSOP; two of the most notable are the “World Series of Rock Paper Scissors” and “Ante Up for Africa.”
